Associative Village :

For another year, the associative village will be a place of exchange and awareness. You will discover or rediscover associations concerned about the environment, as Watt for Change and the CREAQ that, amongst other things, work toward the sustainable development. You will also find the SMEGREG that ensures a water resource balanced management, and Generation Cobayes: young people who raise awareness on the links between environmental pollution and health.

Still on the subject of heath, Caan’Abus from the CEID, specialised in welcoming, supporting and helping people who suffered from addictions, will be there, as well as La Vie des Sens for the prevention of the risk of hearing damage.

Finally, you will be able to taste bissap juice from the Yobalema Association, whose goal is to further and develop cultural activities in Senegal.

All these associations will meet at the Associative Village at the Reggae Sun Ska Festival, the 3rd, 4th and 5th of August, 2018.

Since 2016, our loyal friends from Global Charger lend you batteries for free for your smarphone, and you can even buy yourself a battery with the Sun Ska’s visuals! You will also find the photobooth space of Sfactory, to capture great memories from the festival with your friends… As usual, the Baco Records stand will offer a space with CD and signings sessions. Finally, it’s time to talk about hygiene and organic production with Milhôca soap, made just a few kilometres away from the Nodris Domain.

What do you know about Rasta? Ganja, dreadlocks, reggae…. So many clichés which narrow the Rastafari mouvement. Is it the reason for cutting locks, jailing and killing Rastas on the 70’s? The Rasta ideology raises many reasonings, concrete and essential, about identity and spirituality, which challenge established codes. The documentary film I & I  brings you to the four corners of the world to meet the followers in order to understand better this philosophy of life.This broadcast will be followed by a meeting with the director Julie Hamiti (9h)

Screening of the documentary « Reggae Ambassadors 100% Reggae Français »

French reggae has never been as popular as today. It fulfills huge venues throughout the country. Dedicated festivals take place all over France. Never before it has counted as many groups, sound systems, websites, local radio shows, fanzines, activists, as today. However French reggae remains missing from national radios, press & tv. After the success of Reggae Ambassadors, The Legend of Reggae Music, dedicated to jamaican roots music, Reggae Ambassadors 100% French Reggae Music, proposes a deep immersion into French reggae mouvement and seeks to understand why there exists such a silence around it.
This broadcast will be followed by a meeting with the director Alexandre Grondeau (3.15 pm)

Screening of the documentary «United for Jamaica”, followed by a meeting with the member of the Kabba Roots Association

After the screening of the documentary in 2016, the participatory solidarity project team United For Jamaica is back at the Reggae Sun Ska Festival to meet the public and update the project to build a cultural center in the city. Kingston Rockfort area. Many actions have already been put in place: school correspondences, initiation workshops, organization of events …. A workshop equipped with tools and a collective external kitchen recently emerged on the ground of the Foundation. The asso Kabba roots offers a docu of 26 min. detailing the mission of February 2018 and a meeting with the team at 2 pm.

Screening of the Documentary «Better Days», followed by a meeting with the director Romain « Sherkhan » Chiffre, in the company of Diana Rutherford.

Film directed by Romain ‘Sherkhan’ Chiffre, also a producer of new roots reggae in Kingston. Filmed with a reduced crew in Jamaica during the rehearsals and recording of Diana Rutherford’s Better Days album, this documentary highlights Diana Rutherford’s talent and truth. This film, between portraits of artists (Sizzla, Alborosie, …) and making-of, offers us the opportunity to enter the heart of this unusual project and truly feel the emotion and range of the music of Diana Rutherford .. Better Days was indeed recorded in the old fashioned live with 13 musicians together in the same room. The broadcast will be followed by a meeting with the director accompanied by Diana Rutherford.

The Ensemble National de Reggae play the biggest reggae classics! A mix between a reggae music band and a brass band, the ENR offers something unique: “un groupe de reggae band qui marche” (a reggae band that walks/works). Composition: singer, bassist, guitarist, 4 brasses section, two drumers, one sound engineer, mobile and autonomous sound system.

Batucada CEM

In January 2017, the CEM (Center for Musical Education of Carcans-Maubuisson) decided to create its own Batucada : “Les Tambours du Lac” ! With their Brazilian influences and their reggae rhythms, you will discover this summer the Medocan drummers in action. Punctuated by metal drums, the wandering of the Tambours du Lac will take you into a festival of emotions. A cheerful explosion of auditory flavors, a dynamic and dazzling cocktail to enjoy on saturday, august 4th at Ska Ska Village. 

Batucada Rockschool

Rockschool Medoc is a school of music, graphic arts and theater based in Sainte Helene. It offers for all art lovers a range of training programs, workshops and events, with fun and sharing at the heart of its leaning methods. For the 21st edition of Reggae Sun Ska Festival, Rockschool Medoc, partner of our associaton throughout the year, present for the very first time on a major event, its Batucada, for all the lovers of rhythm, Brazilian and funk music.


Palet Dub Club

On Saturday and Sunday, the association dub dub club invites you to come and tease the puck, free access from 11h to 13h or tournament, by team of 2 people between 13h and 17h. This is the 3rd stage of the Palet dub tour 2018. The activity will take place to the sounds of the kaya natural sound and will be open to beginners and initiates!

Pétanque Raggamuffin

En special guest le samedi et dimanche, Papet J, de Massilia sound system, nous fera l’immense honneur d’animer le tournoi de pétanque organisé par l’association « les amis du sun ska » entre 11h et 17h. Il en profitera pour jouer ses morceaux, passer ses galettes dénichées aux quatre coins du monde, et ainsi renouer avec l’esprit originel du sound system pour animer le village sun ska !

Slackline & Twister

Come and discover the slackline with the Owenza association ; recent sporting pratice similar to tightrope walking. Will you cross this stretched elastic ? And if balance does not come on the rope, try the Owenza Twister, a classic game of skill and balance in group.

Marianne is a Hatha Yoga teacher and trainer at the National School of Yoga Teachers. She offers lessons over the year in Saint-Estephe at “l’Atelier de Yoga” and in Cissac with the association Yoga Attitude ( And this year, she will performed yoga’s sessions on saturday and sunday morning at Reggae Sun Ska festival during Saritah’s and Pierre Nesta’s showcases at Sun Ska Village. Tai Chi

Wake up your body gently, with slow movements to circulate the energy while seeking deep relaxation… The association “l’Abri de l’âme” will teach you the basics of Tai Chi style Cheng Man Ching, the saturday and sunday morning at Reggae Sun Ska festival during Saritah’s and Pierre Nesta’s showcases at Sun Ska Village. Discover this Chinese martial art, through the first movements of the choreography while observing the sensations in your body. You will be invited to focus your attention of your relaxation and your inner calm.
